DON'T RUSH.......A LETTER FROM EVA

I am Eva, 29years of age and live in Ghana, West Africa. I got married at the age of 19years without listening to the advices of my parents thinking that I was in love with my future partner Steve. We got married in April 2005 and started making babies with him without thinking of furthering my education to a higher level or even having my own career all in the name of love. We struggled together to make ends meet until one day his contract pushed through and now he is wealthy. After the breakthrough, he furthered his education when I was in the house taking care of our two sons: Kelvin and Kingsley. Steve bought a new house in Accra all in the name of being in school while I was in Cape Coast, he never allowed the children and I to pay him a visit because he did not want any disturbances. I could see a drastic change but I thought it was because of school until he graduated and asked for a divorce. He met a new lady in Accra, got engaged to without my notice. Now, our divorce would be finalized on 16th August, 2016 so that he can fulfill his new love’s wish of white wedding. It hurts me a lot that after all the sufferings we’ve been through, he has dumped me for someone he calls “HIS CLASS”. He sees me as an enemy and his new wife to be an angel because I don’t match to his education curriculum but the question I ask myself is “what happened to the love we had? Then I realized marriage is not only about love; love is not the foundation of marriage. What keeps the marriage after the love seems to be fading away is knowledge, understanding, friendship, wisdom and insight. I am sharing my story because I will be very sad to see or hear someone taking this same path, I advise everybody to take their time, education or even their career goals serious before getting married. I am currently at the University of Ghana, offering diploma in Agricultural Science. It is my prayer I graduate with flying colors, get a good job and take care of my two sons. BE WISE, DON’T RUSH……..MARRIAGE IS A LONG JOURNEY! MY TEN YEARS OF MARRIAGE IS OVER!
