The Self-Concept

Hello dearies.... hope you've not been waiting too long for my next post. Enjoy your day to the fullest!!

The first thing every individual has to know is to know themselves and what God has for them- PURPOSE! No one was created in a vacuum and God does not create anything for the fun of it but for purpose so the ability to know oneself produce maturity. The question is “how do you get to know yourself and why God brought you to earth for?”Since childhood we’ve all learn what the environment or society want to teach so we’ve the perception of what the society sees right or wrong but is that enough to call yourself? Then how will you call yourself when you came out of mother’s womb and you knew nothing?

The first and foremost thing every man should know is that as you’ve grown building yourself per what the society says, you have to also develop your spirit to know what God wants you to be. My advice to teenagers and young adults is that don’t be tempted or pressured to enter a RELATIONSHIP with a man/woman until you are sure your relationship with your God. Therefore, SPIRITUAL MATURITY is the beginning of wisdom and prudence. There are three keys to spiritual building which are “the ability to hear from God, the ability to see in the realms of the Spirit and lastly, the ability to follow God’s instructions (knowing the principles of God).

After Spiritual building, you get to the point of renewing the mind and placing the new self (Godly self). What is the self-concept? In Sociology, is an idea of the self constructed from the beliefs one holds about oneself and the belief of others. What you call about yourself is what people call you. To be aware of oneself is to love a concept of oneself. If the bible says put off the old self, it means put off something you have accepted which is not originally you and that’s what we came to pick from the earth.

So, the “self” that you need to put off is what you have accepted to be “you” based on what the society has tagged you to be. Now, let’s paused and ask ourselves who have called and tagged us to be- that’s our original self. If you are able to identify yourself based on what God has tagged you to be, then you will discover your purpose and will be ready to fulfill it.
